What is a passport?
A passport is a government document issued by the Department of State. It establishes your identity and citizenship and is used primarily for international travel.
Applying for a U.S. passport can be easy, if you get all your documents in order first. You need proof of U.S. citizenship (official copy of your birth certificate or naturalization papers), two passport specific photos, the application fee, and a completed application form. If your name has changed since birth, you need an official marriage license or court order.
You should call your local passport acceptance office in advance, as many require an appointment. |
